Château Montrose

Founded in 1815, Château Montrose is often referred to as the “Latour of St. Estèphe” due to its solid craftsmanship and powerful wine style. The estate made a strong impression as early as the famous 1976 Paris wine tasting organized by British wine journalist and merchant Steven Spurrier, where its 1970 vintage secured an excellent third place. Covering 70 hectares of vineyards, the estate is predominantly planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. This solid 2ème Cru from St. Estèphe is particularly admired for its densely woven structure, featuring fine fruit and chocolate notes. Legendary: the 1990 vintage, which stood out at every tasting with its wild, animalistic character. Since 2006, the château has been owned by the French conglomerate Bouygues (construction, real estate, telecommunications).
