Chile

Chile is over 4,000 kilometres long but only about 180 kilometres wide. Viticulture concentrates on the valleys between the Andes and the Pacific, where cool maritime and mountain winds provide ideal conditions. Internationally famous are powerful Cabernet Sauvignons from the Maipo Valley as well as wines from Chile’s flagship variety, Carmenère. Estates such as Viña Almaviva and Seña enjoy cult status.
