Syrah
Syrah fascinates with its powerful depth and at the same time astonishing elegance. The variety originates in the Rhône Valley, where in appellations such as Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie it produces some of the greatest red wines in the world. Outside Europe — for example in Australia (as Shiraz) or also California — it often shows a more opulent, fruit-driven style. Typical of Syrah are dark berries, black olive and a fine peppery spice.
