92 A spicy nose, underpinned by a touch of chocolate and ripe dark berries. On the palate, juicy ripe blackberry, accompanied by the same spice that shapes the nose. The body is powerful, the acidity fine and seamlessly integrated, with lovely mid-palate-density lending the wine grip and depth. The 2023 Vosne-Romanée is a Burgundy of real stature, well able to stand up to a rich dish – yet for all its density it remains balanced throughout and never comes across as overt or heavy-handed. Already a pleasure now and will drink beautifully over the coming years.
