May Wines, September 2026 The nose alone gives it away
94 Pinot Noir plays a bigger role in this Grande Cuvée than usual – it practically leaps out of the glass. Inviting from the very first moment, with hints of brioche, yellow fruit and a delicate touch of pear. On the palate, fresh and elegant, with a very fine, small-bead mousse, good mid-palate density and a lovely creaminess. The acidity is noticeable yet well integrated and harmonious, and the whole is wonderfully juicy. The fully ripe grapes of the warm vintage come through clearly, in the best possible sense. For us, the 174ème is a Champagne that already gives great pleasure in its youth – we were surprised by how approachable it is even now.
